About our Workshop

With handstands it is all about the journey. What you are doing right now is fundamental to your progression.

This will be an opportunity to train, explore and learn handstand exercises and technique in a safe and fun environment. 

This workshop shall include partner spotting and stretches.

With many opportunities to ask questions and get individual feedback you will be given alignment adjustments, assistance and the chance to explore and try out handstands in a safe and fun environment.

About Catie

Catie is a yoga author, yoga therapist, yoga coach who
naturally embodied yoga in a very lucid manner since childhood and delights in the play of form. The asanas came later and she left a life that included a ‘career/ work/ hedge fund lawyer’ to one where she lives her Love.

Catie coaches and conducts all types of classes including one-on-one and group yoga, master classes and Yoga training intensives at many locations worldwide.

Many of the Intensives she offers are backbend and handstand focused. You have the opportunity to experience BOTH this week with Catie while she is with us in paradise!! 

2nd description 
1st focus is Conditioning : Creating strength/ flexibility and mobility required for various handstands and forearm balances. 2nd focus is Entry/ exit strategises (ie how to get up and come down!) and effective techniques to engage when upside down and to create a “straight line”.

We will also focus on techniques for the press and movement when inverted.

Thia workshop will show how handstands can improve backbends and we will end with inverted backbends to experience the different positioning and enjoy the benefits of backbends.

Backbends 


We will work exercises to help you make the most of your backbend experience in your practise. We shall experience shoulder opening, target the hip flexors as well as the whole spine. If backbends are enjoyed then this makes ones practise much more joyful and also you are much more likely to show up or stay in the backbend! A regular yoga practise with good alignment/ technique is an awesome foundation for health/ enjoyment/ contribution to life. So whether you want to explore wheel, know how to get closer to locust, backbend upside down! or simply want to incorporate techniques to help shoulder/ back issues, this hands-on workshops presents an opportunity to get playful and try things you might think you can't do, or don't Yet know how to do. You will receive alignment adjustments & assistance and have the opportunity to expand and try out backbends in a safe and fun environment. Engage in exercises which contribute to a healthy spine/ approach. Opportunity to ask questions/ get individual feedback

Bring a long towel.

I’ve sent 2 previous descriptions for handstands and one for backbends .. usually handstands is over 2 / 3 days .. one straight line based/ one starting to work backbends in handstands/ 3rd handstands with arm balances and a separate Backbend Workshop.
